How can we find out about the ICP contract?
NHS England officials have opened a 12-week consultation on the proposed integrated care provider (ICP) contract to be used by integrated care organisations (ICOs).
The step brings the long-planned development of ICOs a step closer.
The organisations are regarded as the next major development in the evolution of the 44 sustainability and transformation partnership (STP) and integrated care systems (ICSs) footprints and will also mark a major change in the approach to commissioning.
ICOs will operate a single long-term ICP contract designed to provide incentives for co-operation and integration.
By contrast STPs and ICSs operate large numbers of separate contracts with providers.
However, the consultation is clear that ICPs are not expected to be established in every area.
Dudley is expected to be the first areas to adopt the ICP contract, Health Service Journal (HSJ) editors have reported.
