Respiratory care hasn’t had a lot of focus for some time now and was largely absent in the Five Year Forward View. So its place in the Long-term Plan, whilst being overdue, can also be considered as a model for many other therapy areas.
Respiratory diseases cost the NHS £9.9bn a year, with admissions to hospital growing at three times the rate of all other conditions, making this one of the most expensive areas of care and one of the main causes behind NHS winter pressures.
Join Steve How and Oli Hudson as they explore how respiratory care will be managed in the Long-term Plan.
In this conversation, Steve and Oli explore three key areas:
- Diagnosis
- Pulmonary rehabilitation
- Medicines
We’ll also look at the impact on delivery of services and pathway development and its subsequent impact on industry and ways of working with the NHS.
